Roots Events Presents: Soma Tour Feat. Slam + H-Foundation
San Francisco – Public Works

More than a decade has passed since Slam last toured the U.S. Although many have tried over the years to get them back stateside, residencies at three of the UK’s best clubs (Pressure [The Arches], Return To Mono [Sub Club] and Fabric in London) as well as their work on music and their label involvement with Soma Records and Paragraph have kept them busy enough. But the relentless requests for performances and long awaited tours has finally hit at the perfect time, signaling the return of the Glasgow techno legends!

What started as one booking for Hipp-e and Halo’s Surface Records label party at the BPM festival in Playa Del Carmen 2013, quickly became a five date tour where ROOTS is collaborating with Soma Records and promoters in Playa Del Carmen, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago and New York to make their return epic!

Slam (Soma Records / Glasgow)
H-Foundation (Hipp-E & Halo / Surface)

The legendary UK techno duo of Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle have traveled far and wide while holding residencies at 3 of the UK’s best clubs (Pressure [The Arches] & Return To Mono [Sub Club] in their home town of Glasgow and Fabric in the nation’s Capital, London). Their Soma Records label hit its 21st birthday this year, which is quite an achievement in any business never mind the music business. Soma is one of the world’s leading electronic dance labels, and one of the longest running. They have been putting

out great music since 1991 releasing more than 350 singles and over 100 Albums. In this prestigious year, Slam has been nominated as the ‘Greatest Dance Act of All Time’ in the institutional UK Dance music magazine Mixmag.

The last 3 years have been one of their busiest periods ever. Performing dynamic sets at many of the world’s leading festivals including Monegros, Oxygen, Bestival, 10 days off, Extrema, Glastonbury and T In The Park. They have also played at some of the world’s best clubs including the legendary Womb In Tokyo, Cocoon in Frankfurt, Rex in Paris and Berlin’s infamous Watergate and Berghain to name a few. They recently celebrated 13 years of their illustrious club night Pressure @ the world famous Arches club in Glasgow and have also started their own Podcast series.

Following a limited European tour in June 2012 that included
stops in Ibiza, Berlin and London, Hipp-e and Halo quickly
returned to the U.S. to collaborate on the newest works of their
established world-renowned wonder twin moniker,
H-Foundation. The tour was merely their way of announcing
their reemergence into the electronic music world, and with
great timing; their announcement has created a buzz among
music enthusiasts, artists, and labels alike. Once again signing
with their former globally known label Soma Records, H-
Foundation is poised to create a new futuristic music genre that transcends categorization. In the coming year, H-Foundation will release a slew of new original tracks, but not before re-releasing an exclusive deluxe collection of their previous works with an ingenious twist. H-Foundation has hand-picked ten tracks and reclaimed the licensing rights for a collaboration project with some of the most sought after artists of today. Titled ‘Greatest and Latest,’ the duo will release the original tracks again with remixes by confirmed artists like Seth Troxler and Lee Curtiss of Visionquest, and Guy Gerber to name a few. Although digital releases are expected, the ‘unexpected’ will be in the form of a limited edition vinyl pack that will include all ten tracks along with some other limited edition goodies. Information about the release of this collection will be announced on Surface, which is Hipp-e and Halo’s collaborative record label project that will be home to a number of releases from various artists in 2013.
