Bloody Mary Festival — this Sunday at The Midway!

Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary.

Say it three times fast with an olive in one hand and a skewered shrimp in the other in front of an empty highball glass and you will conjure up an entire festival dedicated to the world’s most complex cocktail, a drink that eats like a meal.

Hmm. That isn’t quite how the legend goes, is it? Something like that, anyway. But either way…

That’s exactly what’s on deck this Sunday, September 18, from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. over at our sister venue The Midway. Sunday marks the third San Francisco iteration of The Bloody Mary Festival, a festival dedicated to … you guessed it, all things Bloody Mary, which launched in Brooklyn in April 2014. Their second event was right here in San Francisco (certainly the only other city in the country who takes the bloody mary as seriously as Brooklyn), and thanks to the festival’s overwhelming success, they’ve traveled to Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Denver, too.

Your general admission ticket (which will sell out, by the way — purchase in advance if you love bloody marys!) will net you three hours of all the bloodies you can drink (pace yourself!) from 15 different Bay Area bloody mary specialists:

Finnegans Wake (Cole Valley, Winner 2015 People’s Choice award AND Best Traditional Bloody Mary); FIVE (Berkeley, Winner 2014 Best Bloody Mary); The Front Porch (Bernal Heights); Rock Bar (Bernal Heights); Kitchen Story (Castro); Penrose (Oakland); St. Mary’s Pub (Bernal Heights, 3 time nominee!); Nido (Oakland); Proud Mary (San Francisco); Preservation and Co. (Sacramento); 54 Mint (SoMa); Plum Bar (Oakland); 1760 (Nob Hill); Dorian SF (Cow Hollow); and Palm House (Cow Hollow).

Phew. That’s a LOT of bloody marys. Like we said — pace yourself! To help you soak up that vodka, there’s lots of delicious eats on offer from Vampire Vineyards, Bandar Foods, San Francisco Pickle Company, Fusion Jerky, KIND Snacks, Cypress Grove and more… and if you purchase a VIP ticket, bites are on us (and you get early entrance, too).

So, come join us for the ultimate Sunday brunch. See you this weekend.
