Health & Wellness at Public Works

One of our favorite things at Public Works is working with new promoters and event hosts to discover entirely different, creative uses for our blank-canvas space. While fitness might not be what first springs to mind when you think Public Works, we’re happy to announce that we’re hosting a couple of recurring events that pair club-friendly beats with opportunities to stretch your muscles, burn some calories, and get your bod fresh and fit for those summer festivals.

On Thursday, March 31, we’re hosting the first edition of Deep House Yoga at Public Works. Deep House Yoga SF was born in 2014, hosted its first event in 2015, and in 2016, is moving to Public Works to throw its biggest event yet.

Deep House Yoga is the result of the coming together of several different communities, as its proponents (Jill M. and Julie Tran) are deeply involved in both electronic music and yoga in San Francisco. The two of them put their heads together, and realized how obvious it was to put two and two together. (“You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!” “You got your peanut butter in my chocolate!” That kind of thing.)

Advance tickets for next Thursday’s session have already sold out, but there may be limited tickets available at the door. If you don’t make it this time around, we’ll be hosting more Deep House Yoga events at Public Works in the coming months. Keep your eyes peeled!

If you’re more in the mood for an all-day workout session, featuring a slew of dance lessons from some of the finest instructors around the Bay Area, don’t miss Boombox Sundays. They launched on March 20, kicking off with a Bhakti Vinyasa yoga flow class with Pat Bailey, and included Dance + Tone, Cardio Bollywood, and Hip-Hop Abs dance lessons before finishing off with a Twerk Party.

The next Boombox Sunday event is happening May 15 — so mark your calendars. (Please note that these are morning-to-afternoon events — so try not to party too hard Saturday evening beforehand, so you can make it for the full class!) Last but not least: Free snacks are included with the price of admission to Boombox Sundays. Yes, that’s right. Free snacks. We love snacks. You love snacks. See you there!
