Maceo Plex To Push Things Forward At The Works

Maceo Plex is another pseudonym for Eric Estornel, who is already well known as Maetrik, a name that he has been using to release music on Treibstoff,  Sven Vath’s Cocoon Recordings imprint, Morris Audio and Von Stroke’s Mothership label, for the last ten years. Whereas Maetrik is devoted to spaced out techno, Maceo Plex is all about house, but house with a dark, funky edge. Estornel, a Cuban-American, is now based in Barcelona, Spain and has been extremely busy since he dropped his first release as Maetrik on Treibstoff in 2001, releasing somewhere in the region of 40 singles and two albums so far.

As Maceo Plex he has dropped one album, Life Index, which came out on Crosstown Rebels this year. He has also released two singles on the label, 2010’s “Vibe Your Love,” and “Your Style,” from earlier this year. He will join Robag Wruhme and DJ Adnan to move the dance floor at the Works into a sweaty lather at the Public Works and Forward shindig on Friday, May 27th. We implore you to not miss out.
