Mahoney and Whang Work Some LCD Bang!

It’s been a while since any of the LCD/DFA posse have graced the boards at the Works, but this Friday Eug and Bootsy of The Face present Nancy Whang and Pat Mahoney on the decks at Public Works. Whang played keyboards and provided backing vocals and¬†Mahoney played drums ¬†in LCD Soundsystem, a band that loomed large over the musical landscape of the 2000s by taking the collision of post-punk, electro, techno, disco and house that started in small clubs in NY to large audiences all over the globe.

The band was on DFA, the label that also gave us The Juan MacLean, The Rapture and Hercules and Love Affair, among many other acts. These acts had many stylistics aspect in common, but another shared quality they had was the ability to rock out on stage and behind the decks with equal zeal. The last DFA posse member who rocked our joint was The Juan MacLean, but if you’ve lived in San Francisco for any amount of time you’ve caught members of all the above acts kicking out the jams that rock the party at venues all over the city.

This Friday will be no exception. Expect some top-notch tunes, party-bangers, classics and straight-up gems. Eug will be supporting the duo and festivities will start at 10.00 pm. Come through and join us on the floor boards at the Works because they’re gonna bounce for sure.
