Noise Pop’s Culture Club at the Works

Once again it’s Noise Pop time and you know what that means, right? “Noise and pop?”, I hear some of you eagerly opine. Neeeeyoooo, it’s a week long festival of new (and not so new) live rock at an array of local venues, combined with some non-rock shows featuring the likes of Kid Koala, Peanut Butter Wolf and Dâm-Funk.

Also featured this year is a two day schedule of  day time talks at Public Works called Culture Club. From 12 noon til 6PM on Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th independent artists of many persuasions — including cartoonists, visual artists, rock musicians and electronic music producers — will give a series of presentations that will cast some light on their creative processes. Among those participating are Kid Koala, Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, DJ Nickodemus, Ben Templesmith (author of the original “30 Days of Night” comic) and LA rockers No Age.

If you are creative yourself or just curious about the creativity of others then you might want to come along and immerse yourself in the knowledge and insight that will be handed out readily. To quote the Culture Club web page, “NPCC is simply about inspiration and the DIY indie spirit. It’s also very much about the process—in creating, in exploring, in sharing and that’s what we will collectively experience together over these two days.” If that sounds like your thing please drop in.
